Fresh Blooms Deserve a Little TLC
Before placing your bouquet into a vase, give the vase a good rinse. Bacteria left behind from previous arrangements can shorten the life of your flowers significantly.
Use clean, room-temperature water to help your stems hydrate quickly. This first step makes all the difference.
Even if your bouquet arrives pre-trimmed, it’s important to cut the stems again before placing them in water. Use sharp scissors or garden shears and trim each stem on a diagonal — this increases the surface area and helps them drink more efficiently.
Re-trim every couple of days to keep the water flowing freely.
This is especially helpful for full, lush styles like our Bright Seasonal Bouquet or classic Anniversary Mix.
Your bouquet will last longer when kept in a cool, shaded spot. Avoid placing flowers near windows, heating vents, or direct sunlight.
This is especially important for Sympathy or Romantic arrangements that may be delivered during warmer months.
Fresh water is one of the easiest ways to extend the life of your blooms. Change the vase water every 1–2 days, using clean, room-temperature water each time.
Be sure to add the flower food we’ve included with your Tranquil Blooms order. It gives your flowers a little boost and helps slow down bacteria growth.
As flowers age, they release ethylene gas, which can speed up the wilting of surrounding stems. Removing any spent or wilted blooms will help the rest of your bouquet last longer.
This tip is particularly useful for mixed bunches, like our Seasonal Pastel Arrangements or Native Bouquets.
If you’ve received a wrapped bouquet, transfer it to a clean vase with water as soon as possible. Don’t forget to give the stems a fresh trim before arranging them in the vase.
You might also receive a care card with your flowers — keep it handy as a quick reference.
